IV. Explore Office 365 Admin Options

If you are the Admin of the Office 365 Portal, you will have an ‘Admin’ at the top of the homepage. As an Admin of the homepage, you can configure different settings so that your team members can navigate through the homepage with ease.

1. Admin Overview

a. On Office 365 Portal homepage, click on Admin.
b. When the Admin page shows up, go to ‘Get your team started’ and click on [Watch admin tour]

c. This is where the admin can get acquainted on overview of Office 365, role as administrator and managing settings for Lync, Exchange, Outlook Web App and SharePoint.

2. Adding Users

a. When you are on the Office 365 Portal homepage, go to Admin -> Get your team started -> [Add users]. Fill out the necessary information and press [Next]

b. After assigning adequate license for the member, press [Next]

c. When asked for E-mail address to send results in, type in the address and press [Create] and you will see the resultant user name and temporary password on the new screen.

3. Add and verify your domain

a. To add and verify your domain, go to your Office 365 Portal homepage -> Get your Team Started -> Click on [Add and verify your domain]

b. When the ‘Specify domain’ window appears, type in your domain and press [Check Domain].

c. When you have found an available domain, press [Next]. Review your information and then [Verify]

4. Reset the user password

a. Go to the Admin page-> Under Admin Shortcuts, click on [Reset user passwords].

b. When the ‘Users’ window appears, click on the user you would like to reset password for and click on [Reset Password below]

c. When the ‘Reset user Password’ window appears, type in the E-mail address and click [Reset Password]

d. When the ‘Result window appears, click [Finish]

5. Assign User Licenses

a. Go to Admin Page -> Under Admin Shortcuts, click on [Assign user licenses]. When the ‘User’ window appears, select the person you would like to assign user license to and click on [Edit].

b. When the ‘Assign licenses’ window appears, select the licenses to assign for the person and press [Save] when finished.

6. Setting up Exchange Server

a. Go to the Admin Page -> Outlook -> Click on [General Settings].

b. When the ‘Exchange Server 2010’ window appears, you can adjust settings on ‘Users and Groups’, ‘Roles and Auditing’, ‘Mail Control’ and ‘Phone and Voice’

7. Setting up Lync

a. Go to Admin page-> Lync -> Click on [General Settings]

b. ‘Lync Online Control Panel’ will appear. Admins are able to change settings on External communications and user information.

8. Managing your Team sites and documents

You can manage your team sites and document libraries with SharePoint Online.

a. Go to your Admin page -> Team sites and documents –> Click on [Manage team sites]

b. On the Team Site Settings, you are able to edit settings on Galleries, Design, Users and groups, and site administration.

9. Managing documents on your team site

a. Click on ‘Team Site’ on the top of the Office 365 Portal homepage.

b. When the Team site window appears, click on [Documents]. On this site, you can either create a new document or upload documents to share with your other team members.

10. Changing Team Site User settings

a. Go to ‘Admin’ Page -> Team sites and Documents -> Click on ‘Change Permissions’

b. Click on ‘Edit User Permissions’ and when the new window appears, change the Team User settings.
